About Us

The Welsh Piping Society Pipe Band is a growing band based in Cardiff. We hold a chanter practice on Mon/Tue (depending on availability of venue). This is normally the Grangetown Catholic Club in Cardiff. Every Thursday we practice with pipes in the TA Centre in Cardiff. It is opposite the prison.

The band has  had some success at the 2004  RSPBA grade 4B competitions and we hope to keep this going.  In 2005 we intend going to outdoor competitions at  Birmingham, Dumbarton, Banbridge NI,  Glasgow ( world championships) , and Chatsworth plus a couple of other venues yet to be decided.

In Oct 2003 the band recieved a £10.000 lottery grant through the Arts Council of Wales (thus their logo on our front page). With this money we bought 10 new sets of Macallum bagpipes and a complete set of drums for the band.

We have self financed the purchase of new kilts. The Tartan is our own design and called Welsh Piping Society. We wanted it to look welsh and that is why it is predominatley red/green. Most members have upgraded their unifrom  by purchasing jackets and vests.
